Industrial/Environmental Microbiology
Currently, we are working on millipede gut microbiome. Our interest in this area of research stems from the fact that millipedes play a major role in organic matter decomposition and nutrient recycling in terrestrial ecosystems. They are one of the most important detritivores consuming decaying wood, soil and leaf litter in various stages of decomposition. Like all other arthropods, millipedes host a diverse community of microbes in their guts, which is believed to aid in digestive processes and profoundly influence various aspects of their biology, yet the exact roles of this microbiome remain unclear. So, we using a combination of stable isotope probing (SIP), metagenomic, and metatranscriptomic techniques to understand the gut microbial community structure and functions.
