Faculty of Science, University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice will be hiring two postdocs as Junior Group Leaders. We are looking for a strong candidate to study consequences of human impacts such as warming, eutrophication and pollution on freshwater ecosystems from individual to community level.

We use laboratory and field experiments (including newly established heated outdoor mesocosms at the campus), field studies and modelling to understand how environmental drivers shape individual life histories, species interactions and population/community dynamics. Our primary focus is on standing waters ranging from small pools to large reservoirs (http://kbe.prf.jcu.cz/en/water, http://kbe.prf.jcu.cz/en/populations). Recent publications include papers in Ecology Letters, Global Change Biology, Reviews in Aquaculture and Freshwater Biology and Freshwater Biology (kbe.prf.jcu.cz/en/biblio).

The ideal candidate should hold a PhD in ecology, hydrobiology or related field, and have a strong interest in quantitative ecology. He/she may either focus on zooplankton and macroinvertebrates with which we already work extensively, or bring additional expertise. For further enquiries, please contact Assoc. Prof. David Boukal (dboukalatprf.jcu.cz) or Prof. Jaroslav Vrba (jaroslav.vrbaatprf.jcu.cz).
