Abstrakt:

Buried organic pockets harbour a huge proportion of organic carbon in arctic soils, but remain largely undecomposed. While underlying processes of these phenomena are still to be uncovered, microbial predation is known to have major impacts on nutrient cycles and organic matter degradation. We obtained metatranscriptomes from several arctic soil profiles from Disko Island, Greenland to provide holistic insights into microbial community compositions, including pro- and eukaryotic organisms, and abundances of potential micropredators.
